Job summary

ComAV Technical Services in Victorville, CA is seeking a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician III. This senior role diagnoses, repairs, maintains, and inspects GSE, fleet vehicles, forklifts, and related equipment used in aircraft maintenance operations.

You will mentor GSE Technicians I and II, ensure safety and compliance, and maintain accurate maintenance records. Salary ranges $33.80 - $37.00 hourly, full-time employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, industrial equipment, fleet vehicles, or ground support equipment.
• Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, steering, suspension, braking, and electrical system failures on GSE and fleet vehicles.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting using diagnostic software, electrical test equipment, schematics, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
• Perform major repairs, overhauls, component replacements, preventive maintenance, and inspections on a variety of ground support equipment.
• Fabricate, repair, and modify metal components using approved fabrication techniques and welding equipment, when qualified.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and ensure equipment remains in safe operating condition.
• Conduct operational testing following repairs to verify equipment performance and reliability.

• Research replacement parts, vendor information, technical manuals, and repair procedures.

JOB SUMMARY

The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician III is a senior-level technician responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, maintaining, and inspecting a wide variety of ground support equipment, fleet vehicles, powered industrial trucks, generators, tow tractors, hydraulic systems, diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, and other support equipment used in aircraft maintenance operations. This position serves as a technical resource and mentor for GSE Technicians I and II while assisting with maintaining a safe, reliable, and operational GSE fleet supporting FAA Part 145 repair station operations.

Employees in this position are required to furnish and maintain the tools necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in accordance with the Company's Tool Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, steering, suspension, braking, and electrical system failures on GSE and company fleet vehicles.

• Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, accidents, or injuries.
• Support operational requirements, including overtime, weekends, or emergency repairs as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

Experience & Certifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, industrial equipment, fleet vehicles, or ground support equipment.
• Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain airport driving privileges.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
• Ability to successfully complete required Company training and qualification programs.

Preferred

• ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification or equivalent industry certifications.
• Welding and metal fabrication experience.
• Forklift, aerial lift, or other industrial equipment certifications.
• Experience supporting an FAA Part 145 Repair Station, aviation maintenance operation, airport, military, or industrial maintenance environment.

Tools Requirement

• Ground Support Technician III are required to provide and maintain a complete set of personal Automotive/Heavy equipment necessary tools to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Personal tools must be maintained in good working condition and comply with Company Tool Control, Tool Accountability, and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Prevention requirements.
• Ground Support Technician III are responsible for the security, maintenance, and replacement of their personal tools.
• Specialized tooling, calibrated equipment, test equipment, and Company- controlled tooling required for specific maintenance tasks will be provided by the Company.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in aircraft hangars, maintenance facilities, airport ramps, and outdoor operational environments. Employees are routinely exposed to aircraft noise, moving machinery, elevated work platforms, and varying weather conditions. Employees may be exposed to aircraft movements, aircraft engine operations, high noise levels, and compressed gases while performing assigned duties. Employees may be required to work from ladders, maintenance stands, elevated platforms, or beneath equipment while performing maintenance and inspections. The position may require exposure to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids, solvents, cleaning agents, and other materials commonly associated with aircraft maintenance. Employees are expected to comply with all Company safety policies, FAA regulations, OSHA standards, and PPE requirements. Overtime, shift work, weekend work, and holiday work may be required to support operational needs.
