Job summary

Alvest Equipment Services (AES) in North Charleston, SC seeks Ground Support Equipment Mechanics to maintain and repair GSE for Boeing Dreamlifter Operations. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safe operation.

This role requires 1–4 years in repair, ASE certifications within the first year, and ability to lift heavy weights while working shifts including days/evenings/nights/weekends. On-site role with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years service repair experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills with PLC and HVAC experience.
• 1–2 years repair/maintenance on Mobile Heavy Equipment.
• Diesel-powered vehicles experience preferred.
• Strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.
• Ability to read repair manuals and wiring diagrams.
• GSE experience is a plus.
• Within first 6–12 months obtain ASE certifications (min 1, max 3).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, HVAC, and electrical discrepancies on GSE systems.
• Inspect, repair, and overhaul components to OEM specifications.
• Disassemble and reassemble components with precision per OEM specs.
• Perform Preventative Maintenance and document actions in the maintenance system.
• Operate GSE safely around Boeing Dreamlifter Operations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement to reduce downtime and optimize equipment performance.
• Adhere to Tool Control, FOD, safety, and parts accountability guidelines.
• Follow OSHA and EPA guidelines on-site.
• Coordinate with internal departments and customers for smooth operations.
• Maintain housekeeping in work area and tools.
• Participate in training and development opportunities.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by Station Manager/Lead Technician.
