Summary:
Are you passionate about food, leadership, and creating amazing dining experiences? As our head chef, you’ll play a key role in running the heart of the kitchen! You’ll lead a talented team, keep things running smoothly, and ensure every dish is cooked to perfection. From managing the kitchen crew to handling food orders and ensuring top-notch quality, you’ll be the mastermind behind an efficient, fun, and delicious operation. It’s all about creating incredible food and fostering a positive, high-energy work environment!
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand primary language(s) used in the workplace
- Requires good standard and interpersonal communications skills, both verbal and written
- Exceptional organization, problem-solving and supervisory skills
- Knowledge of food & beverage menus, food preparation and presentation
- Ability to act independently with minimal or no supervision
- Must possess basic computational ability
- Must possess computer skills
Responsibilities:
- Lead hands-on in the kitchen, working on the restaurant line, prep line, or banquet kitchen line, setting an example for staff
- Responsible for all product preparation, line cooking, or banquet cooking to meet company standards
- Uphold and abide by the company's employment and management policies, serving as a role model
- Participate in interview and hiring processes for kitchen personnel
- Assist with kitchen orientation and training of new employees
- Create and manage accurate kitchen work schedules to ensure proper staffing
- Monitor and control labor costs daily by adjusting staff levels as needed
- Motivate and coordinate staff to ensure productive shifts
- Use coaching and counseling skills to develop staff and supervisors
- Ensure staff follow policies and maintain professional behavior
- Maintain good working relationships with dining room staff and address issues proactively
- Complete HR forms promptly and accurately
- Maintain a safe, health, and harassment-free work environment
- Manage food inventory, perform weekly and monthly inventories accurately
- Control food costs by adhering to recipes and minimizing waste
- Assist in planning menus for banquets and special events, utilizing food surpluses effectively
- Ensure proper purchasing, receiving, storage, and rotation of supplies
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards for the kitchen and equipment
- Follow health department standards and train staff accordingly
- Participate in management and BEO meetings
Qualifications:
- Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily
Education/Experience Preferred:
- Four years of kitchen experience, including two years in management and two years as a line cook
- Additional college or technical school cooking certificate preferred
