San Jacinto River Authority is seeking a GRP Utility Operator-in-Training to assist in operating a surface water treatment plant transmission system and receiving facilities in Conroe, TX. The role includes learning duties, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

The position involves field and lab sampling, instrument readings, and coordinating with the lead operator. Must be prepared for day shifts and a safety-sensitive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• At least 1 year of general work experience.
• TCEQ Class D Water Operator (Preferred).
• Valid Texas Driver’s license with an insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Document, organize, and file maintenance records in the EAM system.
• Evaluate system pressures, equipment operation and instrument readings using SCADA; advise lead operator on adjustments.
• Perform general manual labor including loading/unloading, cleaning, and painting as required.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor equipment adjustments.
• Operate Authority vehicles/equipment to facilities to perform duties.
• Conduct field and laboratory sampling and testing for process and disinfection adjustments.
• Track inventory and order chemicals and supplies for plant operations.
• Follow safety regulations and use appropriate PPE; this is a safety-sensitive and essential position.

Company Summary

The SJRA is a public entity whose mission is to develop, conserve, and protect the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. Its primary purpose is to implement long-term, regional projects related to water supply and water quality. SJRA delivers raw water to both municipal and industrial consumers and provides water treatment and wastewater services through the ownership, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure including reservoirs, groundwater wells, surface water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and miles of open channel and conveyance systems.

Summary

The GRP Utility Operator-in-Training assists and trains in the operation of a surface water treatment plant transmission system and receiving facilities in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations. This role performs various housekeeping and grounds maintenance activities that are required while learning the duties listed below.

• Accurately documents, organizes, and files correspondence, reports and records related to maintenance activities in the EAM system.
• Through SCADA data and physical interaction, evaluates system pressures, equipment operation and instrument readings; advises the lead operator regarding any process adjustments conducted or required to optimize operations.
• Performs general manual labor including filling and emptying of machine bins and cleaning equipment, facilities and grounds and painting as required.
• Performs general equipment maintenance including, but not limited to, routine preventive maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustments.
• Operates Authority vehicles and/or equipment for operational purposes by driving from facility to facility to conduct job duties.
• Performs various routine and non-routine field and laboratory sampling and testing (chemical, physical and biological) for process and disinfection adjustments.
• Tracks and maintains inventory; orders chemicals and supplies for plant operations.
• Follows safety regulations, policies, principles, and procedures. Utilizes all appropriate personal protective equipment.
• This position is classified as a safety sensitive position. The individual holding this position is subject to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing.
• This position is classified as primary essential personnel. The individual holding this position will be required to work as usual or as needed (1) during an emergency event, (2) in preparation for an emergency event.and/ or (3) during recovery from an emergency event as directed by their direct supervisor, appropriate Department/Division Manager, the appropriate Senior Level Manager, or the General Manager.
