Job description

Drive explosive growth in the most authentic and connected training community in the world.

About Farren

We’re an early-stage, high growth, AI-native startup on a mission to reshape the way people train, move, and feel.We believe fitness is the ultimate unlock for living well—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Backed by proven founders and deeply committed to our mission, we’re building something bold, human, and deeply personal. We’re in stealth for now. But we’re moving fast—and building to last.

Description
The Role

Most people who want a coach never get one. They think about it, they poke at a website, and then life happens and they go back to making it up on their own. The distance between wanting help and actually having a coach is short, and almost nobody crosses it.

We're hiring a Growth Engineer to close that distance.

You'll own the systems that bring new athletes into Farren, connect them to the right coach, and give them a reason to stay. Onboarding. Merchandising. Profiles, feeds, and sharing. Referral. The pieces that decide whether someone becomes an athlete here or another abandoned signup. This role is a combo of technical and growth focused. If you’re an engineer who loves straddling the boundaries between the business, the customer, and the code, this job is for you.

The playbook for this work is being rewritten every six months. The tactics that worked two years ago are dead. So we're not looking for someone with a binder of growth tactics. We're looking for someone who can form a sharp hypothesis, build the thing, read the data honestly, and be willing to throw out what they just built when the numbers say so.

You'll work directly with the founding team, our iOS engineer, and our coaches. You'll be responsible for outcomes, not tickets.

What You'll Do
  • Own the backend behind acquisition, onboarding, and activation, from signup through coach match. This is python services and threading together service APIS.
  • Build the backend for our community surfaces: profiles, feeds, sharing, and the loops that make athletes want to bring other athletes.
  • Ship and instrument referral and merchandising experiments, then own the readout and the call on what happens next
  • Support the systems behind our website and marketing surfaces while our iOS engineer owns the front end
  • Extend our experimentation stack in PostHog so the whole team can move faster on evidence
  • Find where AI creates real speed in this work and build it into how we ship
What We're Looking For
  • 3-5+ years shipping production software across the stack, with real depth on the backend
  • Working fluency in Python and TypeScript
  • A track record of owning an outcome rather than a queue. You've had a number you were responsible for and you moved it
  • Experiment instincts. You've formed hypotheses, instrumented them, and made decisions off the results. E-commerce, consumer marketplaces, subscription products, and community platforms all count
  • Discipline and organization. You know what's live, what's shipped, what won, and what you're doing next, without anyone asking
  • Aggressive use of AI tooling. We expect everyone here to be pushing what these tools can do
  • Curiosity, authenticity, and clear communication
  • You care about human performance and want everyday athletes to have what only pros used to get

Ambition matters more than tenure here. If you're earlier in your career and hungry to work above your level, tell us.

What It's Like Here

We move fast, think clearly, and act on data. We sweat the details, celebrate the wins, and course-correct without ego. The environment is intense but energizing. We're building with speed and soul, and we hold ourselves to a high standard.

We're an empowered team. Nobody hands out roadmaps. You get context, a problem worth solving, and the room to solve it.

We work out as a team almost every day and are the principal users of our own product.
