Job summary

The Group Medical Director at VCA Animal Hospitals leads medical teams across multiple hospitals to advance high-quality veterinary care, patient safety, and clinical excellence. You will mentor Medical Directors and veterinary staff, align practices with organizational goals, and promote evidence-based care and an exceptional client experience.

Based in the U.S. with regional scope, this role collaborates with Medical Affairs, operations, and field leadership to strengthen hospital performance,

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent required.
• Active veterinary license or ability to obtain in assigned states.
• 8+ years of veterinary practice experience.
• 4+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% across hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Drive quality medicine and patient safety across hospitals.
• Coach Medical Directors and develop veterinarians.
• Champion patient safety initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Adopt new medical advancements and standards of care.
• Improve client communication, case management, and follow-up care.
• Oversee medical records quality and equipment standards.
• Address medical-related client concerns and board complaints.
• Lead field leadership collaboration and staffing initiatives.
• Mentor doctors, onboard new clinicians, and boost team performance.
