The role requires teaching various strokes, monitoring student progress, and maintaining accurate attendance and records. Candidates should have strong communication skills and be prepared to complete required certifications within the first year.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years.
• Proven knowledge of various swim strokes and teaching levels.
• Previous experience teaching swim lessons preferred.
• Strong vocal ability to project instruction clearly during lessons.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach YMCA swim lesson program classes of up to 12 children, in-water every class.
• Teach freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly components and sidestroke.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to students.
• Use positive motivation and address behavior with appropriate techniques.
• Maintain safety and observe swimmers; stop dangerous behavior when needed.
• Keep accurate attendance and class records up-to-date.
