What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Analyze medical, functional, employment, and contractual information to make timely and accurate decisions on Long Term Disability (LTD) claims
- Manage open LTD claims using proficient problem-solving and analytical skills to create timely resolutions
- Calculate benefits payable and adjust as necessary throughout the course of the LTD claims
- Provide superior written and verbal customer service, maintaining clear and concise documentation
- Communicate frequently with plan sponsors, plan members, and medical professionals while showcasing empathy and conflict resolution skills
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Proficient English, spoken and written
- Minimum of 2+ years of STD and/or LTD claims management experience
- University degree or College Diploma in a health-related or disability management field, or experience adjudicating disability claims
- Thorough knowledge of insurance operations
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bilingual written and spoken English/French is an asset
- Complex knowledge of various group contracts would be helpful
- Effective negotiating and conflict management skills
- Ability to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
