Job summary

Josephine County Juvenile Justice Department seeks a dedicated Group Life Counselor to supervise residential youth, facilitate group and individual skill-building, and ensure safety in both residential and detention settings. • The relevant degree or equivalent is required.
• Completion of specified detention/custody and safety trainings.
• Ability to obtain CJIS security clearance and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Actively supervise youth in therapy milieu and community to ensure safety and services.
• Establish rapport with youth and maintain professional boundaries.
• Safely de-escalate crises using verbal techniques.
• Participate in CPI-based physical interventions to maintain safety.
• Document activities, interventions, and medication administration timely.
• Facilitate group skill-building and weekly individual sessions.
• Transport youth to appointments, outings, and court as needed.
• Conduct intake/releases and searches for contraband.
• Coordinate with Shift Lead and DHS/OYA for dispositions.
• Make mandatory reports of abuse/neglect/PREA incidents.
