Group Leader - Metals - Environment Testing

Position Summary:

Lead both technical and personnel aspects of group operations. Perform departmental work as required, serve as a technical resource, trainer, and troubleshooter. Make recommendations for operational and technical improvements. Communicate effectively within the team, coach and develop staff, plan and monitor workflow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Apply GMP/GLP standards in all responsibilities
  • Promote and demonstrate the company vision
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  • Ensure understanding and implementation of the quality policy at all levels; address departures from the quality system
  • Perform routine and non-routine work according to technical descriptions
  • Develop and implement operational improvements
  • Supervise staff to meet client service requirements
  • Coach, train, and develop team members for personal growth and operational efficiency
  • Coordinate workflow and monitor daily operations to meet turnaround times
  • Conduct performance reviews, interview candidates, maintain training records, and plan for succession
  • Address performance issues proactively
  • Motivate and boost team morale
  • Monitor and approve employee time entries
  • Support company policies and procedures
  • Develop leadership skills and attend relevant training
  • Perform additional duties as needed for department operations
  • Comply with all employment regulations and conduct activities safely and efficiently
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 semester credit-hours in Chemistry coursework
  • Knowledge of personal computer systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of experience in environmental testing, metals preferred
  • Experience with ICP-MS and ICP-OES instrumentation
  • At least 30 credit-hours of Chemistry coursework
  • Previous leadership experience

Professional proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.
