Description

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, the Group Lead will supervise and lead the materials, shipping, and receiving department. The Group Lead will be responsible for inventory accuracy, transactional integrity of incoming and outgoing freight, and movement of all materials within and between the plants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning, directing, and overseeing the operations of the Parts and Shipping / Receiving departments.
  • Maintaining staff by interviewing, selecting, and training employees; promoting a safe working environment; and developing personal growth opportunities for employees.
  • Overseeing and leading the work of employees within departments to ensure accurate inventory and timeliness of work.
  • Communicating job expectations, coaching and counseling employees, and enforcing policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Training departmental employees on machinery and company software.
  • Maintaining manufactured parts inventory control.
  • Acting as a liaison with freight carriers and project managers.
  • Tracking project due dates to ensure materials are ready for production.
  • Managing parts, pickups, and delivery dates with vendors.
  • Ensuring accurate inspection of materials and bills of lading, and preventing product damage prior to signing bills of lading.
  • Following procedures for receiving damaged products.
  • Verifying checklists and punch lists before shipment.
  • Tracking and maintaining job schedules and deadlines.
  • Monitoring shortages and notifying parts pickers.
  • Reviewing and ordering shipping and receiving supplies.
  • Returning excess materials and maintaining inventory records.
  • Conducting cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Approving PRFs for parts reordering.
  • Assisting in packaging and preparing customer orders.
  • Sending RFQs for freight and storage.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

SHIFT:

Monday-Friday (every other Saturday)

  • 1st shift: 5 AM-3:30 PM
  • Overtime and Saturday work may be required.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years shipping experience in manufacturing.
  • Current forklift certification.
  • 3-5 years warehouse/shipping experience.
  • Mathematical skills for calculations and conversions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and paperwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems; Epicor experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ISO procedures and lean manufacturing is a plus.

Language Skills:

Ability to interpret invoices, bills of lading, and other documents; write reports and manuals; present information effectively. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Physical Demands:

Regular sitting, handling, talking, hearing, standing, walking, reaching, and stooping. Occasionally lifting up to 75 pounds and climbing. Vision requirements include close focus and adjustable focus.

Exposure to electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, fumes, airborne particles, and noise. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for disabilities.
