Rates are based on total years of work experience with Adult IDD populations.

Job Description

The Group Home Counselor provides supervision, guidance, instruction, and skill building to individuals supported within the residence and/or assigned program site. Responsibilities include daily living support, health, safety, well‑being, vocational activities and interaction with others, all while emphasizing community integration.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, supervise, instruct, and support individuals according to their support plans, focusing on community integration and daily outcomes.
  • Assist with personal health and hygiene, including bathing, showering, oral care, grooming, and related needs.
  • Support religious and sexual preferences, ethnic and cultural values, recreational activities, and physical fitness.
  • Assist with family visits, grocery purchasing, meal preparation, and housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and general organization.
  • Administer medications on schedule, manage inventories, and coordinate refills following agency protocols.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community activities, and program sites, ensuring safety.
  • Assist with use, maintenance, and repair of adaptive and medical devices and equipment.
  • Document progress, incident reports, medication logs, behavior management, and other required records.
  • Maintain confidentiality, follow policies, and participate in staff meetings and training.
  • Perform CPR, crisis prevention, and medication administration per agency protocols.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience with adult individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Non‑profit human service experience highly preferred.
  • Strong teamwork, organization, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must be able to perform CPR, first aid, and safety protocols.
  • Good communication skills, customer interaction, and written communication.
  • Basic web‑ and e‑mail application experience preferred.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug test; licensed to work with adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license with at least two years of driving experience and an acceptable record.
