Position Overview:
Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. Collaborates with the Health and Fitness Director to ensure effective communication and program operation. Promotes YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in all activities. Ensures safety and engagement of members in accordance with YMCA policies.
Responsibilities:
- Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes.
- Maintain high safety standards during all program activities.
- Work closely with the Health and Fitness Director for smooth communication and operations.
- Follow all YMCA policies and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Distribute communication materials as directed.
- Attend required clinics, workshops, and staff meetings.
- Keep accurate records of all programs and incidents.
- Assist with special YMCA events and support members in achieving healthy living goals.
- Build authentic relationships with members and foster a sense of community.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
- Perform any other duties necessary for the success of the YMCA.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 18.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from AHA or Red Cross.
- Nationally recognized Fitness Certification or Y Foundations of Strength Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Completion of required trainings and specialty certifications.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to quality improvement.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to conduct classes and perform physical activities, including lifting 15-50 lbs.
- Ability to see, hear, and assist members and staff to ensure safety.
