Job summary

NCH Healthcare System, Inc. is seeking a Substitute Group Exercise Instructor to design and present multiple group fitness classes. You will teach according to a scheduled set, with flexibility to substitute as needed to meet demand.

The role requires delivering energetic instruction, ensuring proper warm-up/cool down, and guiding participants through safe, engaging workouts. Training emphasizes several nationally recognized certifications and CPR/AED readiness is required.

Qualifications

High School or GED required.
Minimum of 6 months of experience in group fitness as an instructor is preferred.
One nationally recognized Group Fitness Certification from a national organization is preferred.
Pilates Reformer Certification required upon hire for Pilates Instructor roles.
CPR, AED certification required upon hire; within 90 days must complete CPR, AED, and First Aid.
Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.

Responsibilities

Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time.
Provides proper group exercise instruction appropriate for class; ensures warm-up and cool down.
Offers modifications to accommodate different fitness levels.
Uses legally purchased music appropriate for the format.
Designs and implements new classes and programs.
Educates and motivates participants and members.
Records attendance for every class.
Assists patrons and maintains a positive exercise experience.
Coordinates substitution needs with management.
Reports unsafe conditions and equipment/facilities needing repair.
