Job summary

Roxborough YMCA in Philadelphia is seeking a certified group fitness instructor who loves teaching and energizing members through dynamic classes. You will lead engaging workouts, demonstrate proper form, and foster a welcoming, health‑minded environment.

This role includes creating routines within YMCA standards, supporting members' wellness goals, ensuring safety, and contributing to a diverse, supportive team.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age and high school diploma or equivalent.
• YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification with experience or National certification.
• A background in Aqua, Dance, Tai Chi/Qi Gong, or Yoga.
• Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service.

Responsibilities

• Set an example of healthy living and personal fitness.
• Prepare routines and/or choreography within YMCA standards.
• Provide support and encouragement to members and reinforce healthy lifestyles.
• Ensure the safety and well‑being of members and staff. Notify supervisor of any safety hazards or concerns within the facility.
• Provide excellent service to all members and notify supervisor of member needs, supplies or other items needed to ensure program quality and member satisfaction.
• Ensure that safe movement and technique is utilized by every member in all classes.
• Maintain knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and maintain records on any incidents.
