Sounds Good? (We think so, too!) Here's what you would do:
- Lead energizing, fun, safe and educational group classes that align with the healthy living program and objectives
- Understands different health needs, observes and adjusts approach to support all participants' capabilities, physical conditions, and objectives.
- Educates members on safe techniques and guidelines.
- Greet and encourage all members and orients new participants.
- Maintain a clean and safe workout environment
- Build community through forming positive relationships through learning members names and helping members reach their Health & Wellness goals.
"Ok, I'm sold!" What do I need to qualify?
- Current Group Fitness Instructor Certification and 1 or more specific group exercise class certifications, is multi-disciplined and able to teach more than one type of class at the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. Nationally Recognized Group Fitness Instructor Certifications from ACE, ACSM AFAA, ASFA, or YMCA. Acceptable Group Class Certifications: Zumba, SilverSneakers, TRX, Les Mills. Certifications must be maintained and current at all times.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification through American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or ASHI. Certification may be obtained either in person or through a blended mode. Courses completed 100% online will not meet this requirement. Certification must be maintained and current at all times
- Physical ability to lead and participate in exercise/fitness activities
- Ability to deal with a diverse group of individuals.
- Strong Communication skills and the capability to work with members of all fitness levels and abilities
- Knowledge of safe exercise techniques and principles
