Job summary

The Treasure Valley Family YMCA is seeking a passionate Group Exercise BODYPUMP Instructor in Boise. In this role, you'll lead dynamic barre classes, fostering inclusivity and engagement among members of varying fitness levels. This part-time position requires availability for 1–3 hours each week, primarily during peak class times, with a focus on community and support.

Job description

The Downtown Family YMCA has been a cornerstone of the Boise community since 1964. Our facility features a full-court basketball gym, a comprehensive cardio and strength training center, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and dedicated youth programming spaces. We're proud to support health and wellness in a vibrant, inclusive environment.

We are currently seeking a passionate and motivated Group Exercise BODYPUMP Instructor to join our team. This individual will lead engaging and safe barre classes that inspire and support members on their wellness journeys.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for all participants.

  • Deliver dynamic and safe barre classes that are fun, effective, and aligned with current fitness trends.

  • Build relationships with participants, including those new to fitness or with diverse abilities.

  • Use the class setting to educate and inspire healthy habits.

  • Monitor participant safety and respond appropriately in emergency situations.

  • Track and report class attendance for internal records.

  • Collaborate with other instructors to support sub coverage when needed.

Qualifications:
  • Previous group exercise instruction experience preferred.

  • Ability to engage participants in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Strong communication skills and a passion for serving others.

  • Calm and quick decision-making in emergency situations.

  • Adaptable, respectful, and committed to creating a positive class experience.

Certifications Required:
  • Group Exercise Certification (Nationally recognized or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise).

  • CPR/AED Certification – Required within 14 days of hire.

  • First Aid Certification – Required within 14 days of hire if teaching CrossFit formats.

Schedule & Hours:
  • Part-time, averaging 1–3 hours per week.

  • Classes are 1 hour in lengtheach and may be scheduled:

    • Monday–Friday: Between 5:15 AM and 6:45 PM

    • The greatest needs are Friday mornings, either 5:15 am or 6:30pm.

  • Instructors are expected to contribute to class coverage and subbing when needed.
