Job description

Join our team at Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club in Hillsboro, OR if you're an enthusiastic fitness instructor seeking a new opportunity to lead engaging workout classes. We welcome instructors experienced in Les Mills, Boxing, Barre, Mat Pilates, and Zumba, with a bonus for those skilled in Small Group Training. Responsibilities:
Essential Duties with Group Exercise Instruction:
  1. Prepares for class in advance, i.e. Choreography, focus for the day, music, etc.
  2. Arrive early to set up class prior to students arriving. Start and end class on time.
  3. Teach safe, effective, motivating & fun group fitness classes following agreed-upon formats and industry guidelines.
  4. Unless explicitly provided by HFAC or an HFAC vendor, the instructor assumes responsibility for all recorded and licensed music.
  5. Educate the members on proper exercise principles and techniques, always emphasizing safety.
  6. Assist in the development of the program through effective teaching and innovative suggestions on programming, training, etc.
  7. Learn participant names and goals. Work professionally and positively with class participants to achieve health goals and add value to their membership with HFAC.
  8. Take proper care of HFAC equipment, including participants as needed to ensure equipment is clean and put away at the end of each class.
  9. Do on-the-spot equipment maintenance as appropriate and report any bigger needs.
Customer Service, Membership Building and Positive Workplace:

At the core of our Mission is excellence in personalized customer service and a strong, positive workplace. Employees are required to meet the highest standards in their presentation and professionalism, including following all policies laid out in Handbooks and training. Group Exercise Instructors also have the following:

  1. Building a strong knowledge and understanding of club amenities, services, products and management team to best respond to member/guest inquiries and needs.
  2. Special event/promotional event set up, clean up and general assistance.
  3. Developing strong professional relationships with clients on behalf of HFAC, including general personal information and club membership status.
  4. Consistently maintaining professional standards, even when the client is a friend, family member, or colleague.
Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
  1. Group Exercise Instructors are required to be currently certified in First Aid & CPR/AED and have a nationally recognized certification to teach group fitness such as ACE (American Council on Exercise), AFAA (Aerobics & Fitness Association of America), or ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine).
  2. Must have a certification in the specific class format that you're applying for.
Compensation:

$28 - $35 hourly
