Job summary

YMCA is seeking an energetic fitness instructor to lead daytime cardio dance and/or strength classes. Classes may be in-person and/or online, offering flexible opportunities to fill the schedule while ensuring a safe, engaging environment for all members.

You will uphold YMCA wellness standards, build member relationships, and stay current on trends to support wellness and participation in a welcoming community.

Qualifications

  • Current CPR/AED certification and a national group fitness certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or willingness to obtain them.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.
  • Minimum 6 months experience teaching group fitness classes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead group classes to accomplish YMCA mission and goals.
  • Conduct energizing, safe, and educational classes.
  • Prioritize modifications and inclusion for all participants.
  • Build relationships with members and promote engagement with the YMCA.
  • Maintain accurate class attendance records.
  • Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergencies.
  • Keep knowledge of wellness trends to provide information and support.

POSITION SUMMARY:Instruct daytime low-impact cardio dance and/or strength fitness classes. Classes may be in-person and/or online and great for someone looking to fill their schedule with additional opportunities. You will provide excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Lead group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.Conduct energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes.
