Job description

Under general supervision instructs land and aquatic group fitness classes. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

Position Responsibilities

Unit Specific Position Responsibilities

• Plans and leads group fitness classes; including land and aquatic.
• Orient new participants to class.
• Ensure all equipment is properly used during class, and cleaned and properly put away after class.
• Offers input into class structure, content, and schedule.
• Communicates schedule to Group Fitness Coordinator.
• Communicates schedule to Group Fitness Coordinator.
• Receives and forwards participant suggestions to Group Fitness Coordinator.
• Stays current on fitness research and trends.
• Maintains positive public relations with all participants.
• Maintains safe exercise environment for participants.
• Available to substitute for other instructors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

Organizational Requirements:

Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Fitness industry certification (A.C.E., A.C.S.M., N.S.C.A.).

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

At least 6 months experience instructing group fitness.

Skill in effective oral and written communication in English.

Skill in communicating with the public.

Solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently to carry out work and assigned tasks.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and influence others.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
