Group Financial Controller, The Lockwood Group

This position will be hybrid (2x week) based out of our headquarters in Stamford, CT.

Summary:We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Group Financial Controller to be a pivotal leader within our private equity-backed, US-based professional services company with offices in the UK and US. This role will be instrumental in shaping our financial infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration of new acquisitions and providing the robust financial insights. This is an exciting chance to lead a lean, impactful team and contribute towards our ambitious growth trajectory

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring proper accounting for our subsidiaries as well as our holding company, including having experience in multi-entity consolidation accounting
• Understanding of global entities including multi-currency recording of revenue and expenses is a plus
• Audit Leadership & Compliance:
• Comprehensive experience in leading and managing an audit as well as dealing with advisors
• Develop and implement best practices for revenue and expense recognition within a time-and-materials professional services environment, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Optimize working capital management, focusing on cash flow, invoicing cycles, and expense controls tailored to a project-based business.
• Strategic Financial Operations:
• Ability to design, implement, and optimize policies, controls, and processes
• Proficient in modern ERP systems as well as doing system conversions as we do them often when bringing on new acquisitions
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team responsible for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, billing, banking/treasury, and general ledger operations.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the finance department.
• Private Equity Reporting & Analysis:
• Provide timely and accurate financial reporting tailored to the requirements of our private equity owners, ensuring transparency and insightful analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Assist with various financial analyses to drive profitability and operational efficiency across the group.
• Hands-On Contribution:
• Given our lean team structure, this role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented approach. You'll be expected to actively participate in daily operations and problem-solving.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
• CPA and or ACA (UK) required, MBA preferred
• 2-5 years’ experience in a professional accounting/auditing firm. Big 4 or similar preferred
• Prior experience working for a private equity-backed portfolio company is highly advantageous, demonstrating an understanding of their specific reporting demands.
• Technical Acumen:
• Expert-level proficiency in US GAAP is essential.
• Demonstrable experience with modern ERP systems and leading system conversions/integrations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage complex financial data and provide insightful reporting.
