Job summary

Guardian Recovery in Maine seeks a Group Facilitator to plan and lead recovery-oriented group sessions. You will guide discussions, monitor progress, and ensure a respectful, inclusive environment encouraging active participation.

You will facilitate process groups, deliver educational content, and collaborate with staff to meet client needs. CPR certification preferred and ADCA parity required for qualification. This role emphasizes safety, ethics, and trauma-informed practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience with chemical dependency and/or dual diagnosed clients.
• Two years of continuous sobriety prior to hire if recovering from a substance use disorder.
• CPR certification preferred.
• ADCA certification required unless master's degree in a clinical field (e.g., social work, family counseling)

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of chemical dependency and utilize knowledge and skills to access and meet the client’s treatment needs and requirements.
• Document as required in client chart.
• Conduct process groups, educational, chemical dependency, and other groups as assigned.
• Work as a team member, demonstrating maturity under stress and objectivity.
• Demonstrate good communication skills.
• Report abuses of clients’ rights immediately.
• Participate in obtaining the client’s informed consent for procedures, treatments, and research, as appropriate.
• Act decisively and effectively in managing staff, clients, and other employees during emergency situations.
• Protect the privacy of all client information in accordance with GRNH, LLC’s privacy policies, procedures and practices.
• Maine Specific: Peer recovery educational groups if ADCA certified or above.
• Texas Only: Knowledge of pregnancy related complications, etc.

POSITION PURPOSE:The Group Facilitator is responsible for planning and leading group sessions that support participants in achieving shared objectives. This role guides group discussions and activities, manages group dynamics, and fosters a collaborative, inclusive environment where all participants feel empowered to contribute. Key responsibilities include organizing and leading sessions to meet defined goals, facilitating open discussion while navigating varying perspectives, maintaining an environment that encourages participation from all members, monitoring group progress and adjusting the facilitation approach as needed, resolving conflicts or disruptions professionally, and summarizing outcomes with appropriate follow-up. The Group Facilitator plays a key role in ensuring sessions are productive, engaging, and aligned with organizational or program goals.POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:At a minimum, a High School Diploma or GED is required.
