Job description

The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area. The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming.

Our Health & Wellness Program offers our members a wide variety of group exercise classes designed to keep participants get fit, stay healthy, and create lasting friendships. We offer High Fitness, TRX, Zumba, Barre, Yoga, MOSSA classes, and more.

The Zumba Gold or Senior Dance Exercise Instructor is responsible for creating a safe, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for members participating in group exercise classes.

Schedule :

This is a part-time position averaging 1-2 hours weekly. Classes are typically scheduled between 8am and noon.

Responsibilities :

  • Conduct class in a quality, fun, and safe manner that results in increased attendance. Follow fitness trends and

utilize prescribed formats when applicable.

  • Actively identify participants who need additional support, such as new members, health seekers, and participants with diverse abilities.
  • Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Provide excellent delivery of land group exercise instruction to all members.

Qualifications :

  • Knowledge in group exercise instruction preferred.
  • Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
  • Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
