Job summary

YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead engaging classes for all fitness levels and foster an inclusive, welcoming environment. You will motivate participants, educate on proper form, and support wellness goals within a safe, well-maintained space.

Responsibilities include arriving early, setting up equipment, and adhering to YMCA safety policies, certifications, and training requirements to ensure high-quality, motivating experiences for members.

Qualifications

• Current nationally recognized Group Exercise Certification or the ability to obtain one within the supervisor's timeframe.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification before employment.
• Passion for health, wellness, and helping others succeed.
• Strong communication and motivational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, engaging, and effective group exercise classes for participants of all fitness levels.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages members to reach their wellness goals.
• Motivate, educate, and support participants throughout each class.
• Arrive early to set up equipment and greet members before class begins.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fitness space.
• Attend required trainings and staff meetings while maintaining required certifications.
