Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA in San Luis Obispo County is seeking an experienced Part-Time Group Exercise Instructor. You will lead aerobics, mind-body, or basic fitness classes and develop routines for participants.

Qualifications include being 18+, having a high school diploma or equivalent, and a nationally recognized group exercise certification. Certifications must be completed within 60 days of hire, with required trainings within two weeks.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Nationally recognized group exercise certification and/or specialized format certification required
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire
• Complete branch and position trainings within two weeks of hire

Responsibilities

• Implement aerobics, mind-body, or basic fitness classes
• Teach fitness classes and develop routines and choreography
• Promote programs to members and participants
• Record participant counts and collect program evaluations
• Maintain minimum class attendance standards
• Provide exceptional customer service and build connections with members
• Complete in-service trainings as required

What do Group Exercise Instructors do?

• Implement aerobics exercise, mind-body, or basic fitness classes
• Teach fitness classes; develop fitness routines, exercises, and choreography for participants
• Promote programs to members and participants
• Record participant counts, distribute and collect program evaluations
• Maintain minimum class attendance standard
• Provides exceptional customer service and fosters connections with members
• Participating and satisfactory completion of in-service trainings

Qualifications

• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance
