Job description

We are currently seeking a Group Exercise Instructor for the Greater Waco YMCA. The Group Exercise Instructor will lead group exercise classes for our Silver Sneakers. Candidates should be energetic, enthusiastic, and dependable. A primary group exercise certification, current Silver Sneakers certification, and experience teaching Silver Sneakers classes are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Teach Silver Sneakers Circuit, Classic, Boom Move or Boom Muscle
• Keep current primary group exercise certification and Silver Sneakers certification through a national certifying association
• Attend all staff meetings and trainings as scheduled
• Ensure class is set‑up, starts/ends on time and equipment is stored appropriately
• Follow association/branch dress code
• Teach each class as formatted by the Health and Fitness
• Director and maintain agreed upon class attendance minimums
• Shares fitness program information with members, using available tools and resources
• Communicates with members and program participants while building relationships in support of their individual needs
• Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants
• Have a positive, enthusiastic and respectful attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Creative, caring and committed
• Desire to continually learn and improve

QUALIFICATIONS

• Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be reliable with a good attendance record
• Have a good knowledge of fitness and wellness
• Be friendly, courteous, enthusiastic, possess a cooperative attitude, and be a team player
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations
• Be willing to uphold the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, responsibility, respect, and faith
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire
• Be able to pass reference check, pre‑employment drug screen, background check and sex offender check

Pay Rate: $18-$21.99 Hourly
