Job summary

American Family Fitness is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead high-quality classes in our Richmond area clubs. You will ensure classes start and end on time, follow approved formats, and create a positive, non-competitive environment that motivates members toward their fitness goals.

You will maintain national certifications (ACE, AFFA) and CPR, while adhering to safety policies and documenting attendance and class data.

Qualifications

• ACE/AFFA certifications and CPR certification required or in progress.
• Must maintain safety-conscious and professional demeanor.
• Punctuality and ability to lead classes on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective Group Exercise classes following the scheduled format.
• Motivate members in a positive, non-competitive environment.
• Arrive 10 minutes before class and assist with member questions after class.
• Adhere to club and industry guidelines for safe exercise.
• Complete administrative tasks on time, including attendance and changes.
• Coordinate substitutions and inform management of substitutions.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
• Obtain and maintain ACE/AFFA and CPR credentials and provide copies.
• Report incidents per policy and inform coordinator of equipment needs.
• Present oneself with appropriate professional attire and promote programs.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Serves the club members by providing safe and effective Group Exercise classes that begin and end on time, as well as follow the scheduled, written format.
• Motivates the members to achieve their fitness goals by offering positive encouragement and an enjoyable, non-competitive environment.
• Arrives on time for class (which is 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time), and stays after class to answer any questions from members.
• Adheres to the company's and the industry's guidelines for safe and effective exercise.
• Adheres to the company's policies and the employee's rules.
• Completes all administrative paperwork completely and on time. This includes monthly schedule requests, address/e-mail/phone number changes, and class attendance numbers.
• Is responsible for finding qualified substitutions when necessary and tries to minimize the use of substitutes. Also is responsible for notifying the Coordinator and the Front Desk about all class substitutions that take place.
• Attends mandatory meetins and training sessions on a regular basis.
• Obtains and maintains nationally recognized certifications (ACE, AFFA) and CPR. Gives updated copies to the Coordinator.
• Knows the company's emergency policy and reports any incident to the club Manager and Coordinator as soon as possible after the incident.
• Informs the Coordinator of any equipment needs or malfunctions.
• Wears appropriate attire for presenting oneself as a qualified fitness professional.
• Exemplifies a positive, fit, healthy image.
• Continuously abides by the American Family Fitness Mission, Vision, and Code of Ethics.
• Meets Class Attendance goals set by Management.
• Promotes the club and it's programs to staff, members, and prospective members. This includes making class announcements when teaching.
