WHAT YOU’LL DO

VML is seeking a Group Director, Content Strategy to lead a multi-million-dollar digital experience team for a B2C client. In this role, you’ll lead a team to develop data-driven, user-friendly content strategies that connect with target audiences in meaningful ways. You will advise on and bring personalization initiatives to life to both retain and conquest customers. Additionally, the Group Director will be responsible for leading the digital experience through a migration into a new design system.

You must be a forward-thinking team player, well-versed in digital content, AI automation, personalization, and storytelling. This is an executive-facing role on a fast-moving project.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Content Strategy: Develop CX-focused strategy aligned with audience journeys and business objectives.
  • Content Audits: Lead audits to identify gaps and opportunities, ensuring consistency across digital touchpoints.
  • Client Deliverables: Approve and give feedback on key deliverables while mentoring team members.
  • Industry Trends: Stay current with automation and AI advancements to drive innovative solutions.
Client Leadership
  • Own strategic deliverables and client relationships, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Lead planning workshops and proactively identify growth opportunities.
  • Facilitate workshops to define content priorities, KPIs, and strategic roadmaps.
  • Serve as a trusted thought leader for senior stakeholders.
Department Leadership
  • Supervise and mentor up to five direct reports and additional team members, guiding career development.
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1 meetings, providing feedback and strategic guidance.
  • Advocate for team promotions and foster an inclusive culture.
  • Lead staffing and resource planning.
  • Share strategic insights with the North American content strategy team to grow practice capabilities.
Business Development
  • Lead new business pitches and RFP responses as a content strategy expert.
  • Shape pitch narratives with data-driven insights.
  • Research industry trends to inform recommendations and solutions.
  • Develop case studies and thought leadership to enhance reputation.
  • Educate internal partners about content strategy offerings.
Qualifications and Skills
  • 10+ years in digital content or CX strategy, content design, or related fields.
  • Proven leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills.
  • Strong strategic mindset and client engagement experience.
  • Deep understanding of digital content trends, UX, SEO, and emerging technologies including AI.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Proactive in exploring new trends and driving innovation.
