Job summary

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Group Counselor for our Detox and Residential facility in South Bend, IN. You’ll lead group therapy, support clients in building coping skills, and work with clinicians to monitor progress in a compassionate, recovery-focused setting.

We require licensure in Indiana, a bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field, and at least one year of experience; sobriety if in recovery is preferred. Avenues offers robust benefits and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Valid licensure to practice as a clinician in Indiana.
• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or related field.
• Minimum one year experience in treatment industry preferred.
• If in recovery, at least one year of sobriety required.
• Excellent interpersonal, observational, and communication skills.
• Warm, dignified and honest character that inspires trust.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups.
• Help clients develop healthy coping skills and recovery tools.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to track client progress.
• Escalate significant concerns to Clinical Director.
• Maintain thorough documentation of group sessions.
• Ensure all clinical assessments and client charting are completed.
