QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two years experience in turf industry.
• Two years experience in ground care field.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
• CDL is required

REPORTS TO: Grounds Manager

JOB GOAL: To provide students with an attractive and safe, natural environment in which to learn.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains and cares for school grounds.
• Prepares seeding and planting beds.
• Plants seeds, bulbs, trees, and shrubbery so that growth produces and attractive appearance.
• Prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.
• Mows lawns with power walk behind mowers and riding tractor mowers. Trims with string trimmers.
• Adjusts and repairs such equipment as lawnmowers, sprinklers, chainsaws, hedge clippers, tractor, buses, and other district equipment assigned by Grounds Manager.
• Removes snow from sidewalks, driveways, and spreads salt, sand, to prevent slipping. (On call when needed)
• Collect and disposes leaves, trash and other unwanted debris that accumulated on school grounds.
• Repairs outdoor facilities such as benches, garbage cans, chainlink fence and playground equipment.
• Concrete set-up and finishing.
• District moving and deliveries of special need items.
• Perform welding and torch cutting on equipment.
• Assist in irrigation repair.
• Set-up and maintenance of athletic fields.
• Confers with Grounds Manager on making the district an aesthetic attractive and safe environment.
• Assist other departments as needed

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month year. Salary established by the Board.
