Job summary

ISA Certified Arborist is seeking a Groundsperson for a full-time, on-site position in Maryland. Responsibilities include operating ground-based equipment to clear debris, loading materials, and setting up staging areas.

You will work with saws and heavy equipment, feed brush to a woodchipper, and perform routine truck maintenance while ensuring safety for staff and the public. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred) and a valid driver’s license with CDL preferred.

• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate ground-based equipment and use handsaws, pole saws, pruners, and gas-powered equipment to clear brush and trees.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
• Define staging areas and set up/break down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper and manage material flow.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment and report major repairs.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards; flag traffic when needed.
• Work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

• Pay or shift range: $17 USD to $18.60 USD
  This is an estimated pay range for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

• Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
• Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
