Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts and Kendall Vegetation Services are seeking a Groundsperson to support crews from the ground, ensuring safety and efficiency in vegetation management projects. The role requires following safety guidelines, keeping work areas clear, and assisting with material handling using hand tools and small equipment.

Applicants should have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and a valid driver's license; CDL is preferred.

• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate from ground level to support crew and maintain a clean, safe work zone.
• Follow safety rules and help enforce safe practices on site.
• Define staging areas and assist with loading/unloading trucks and equipment.
• Operate or assist with gear like handsaws, pole saws, pruners, and related tools.
• Perform basic truck/equipment maintenance and report major repairs.

• Pay or shift range: $16 USD to $18 USD
  This is an estimated pay range for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Description

The Groundsperson supports the crew by performing from the ground. The Groundsperson observes all safety rules to guarantee a clean and safe work zone. Valid Driver's License Required.

• Always follow and help enforce safe practice and rules.
• Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas.
• Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
• Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
• Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
• Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

This position requires employees to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
