Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts in Cleveland, TN is seeking a Groundsperson to support vegetation management operations and emergency response. You will handle tools and equipment, load/unload debris, operate trucks, and maintain gear while adhering to safety standards.

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with experience in vegetation management or related fields. A valid driver's license is required; CDL is preferred.

• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and help enforce safe practices on site.
• Operate handsaws, pole saws, pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas and set up/break down materials, tools, and equipment.
• Feed brush into woodchipper and load/unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
• Operate various trucks and equipment and perform basic maintenance on them.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards; flag traffic as needed.
• Work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

• Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas.
• Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
• Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
• Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
• Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
