Job summary

College of Lake County is hiring a Groundsperson at the Grayslake Campus. The role involves lawn care, field preparation, and maintenance of campus grounds and fleet equipment. Snow removal and basic mechanical repairs are part of daily duties.

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid CDL with air brake endorsement (or ability to obtain within 12 months), and a pesticide license or ability to obtain within 12 months. The position is full-time, 7:00am–3:30pm, $20.37/hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A valid CDL with air brake endorsement is required, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Possess/state Illinois pesticide license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs frequently and over 70 lbs occasionally.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and operate grounds equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the exterior of the campus, including lawn mowing, cultivating flowers and trees, seeding, and spraying.
• Repair and maintain College vehicles and equipment (lawnmowers, tractors, sprayers).
• Perform snow removal on campus parking lots, roads, and sidewalks.
• Prepare athletic fields, including spraying, fertilizing, and striping.
• Build or repair equipment such as picnic benches and barricades.
• Transport heavy equipment for other departments as needed.
• Demonstrate commitment to the College's goals and provide service excellence.
