Job summary

Joshua Tree Experts in Bethesda, MD is seeking an experienced Tree Care Groundsman to support a 2–4 person crew in tree removal, pruning, stump grinding and chipping. You will communicate with crew members and the public while climbers are aloft, and you will receive paid training and certification expense coverage.

Qualifications

• Two years minimum experience in Tree Care Operations.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Ability to work 40+ hours per week.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds or more.
• Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist crew with equipment and vehicle preparation daily.
• Ensure drop zones are safe for coworkers and the public.
• Perform pruning and reducing tasks as needed.
• Safely operate tree care equipment (gas-powered saws, pole saws, chippers).
• Load/unload logs, brush and debris from trucks and chippers.
• Report to work on time each day and follow crew leaders' directions.
• Maintain professional image and provide friendly customer service.
• Maintain and service equipment as needed.
• Follow safety culture and safety procedures.

The Groundsman works alongside a 2 to 4-person tree crew assisting in tree removal, tree pruning, stump grinding and wood chipper operations. He/she is responsible for all communication with crew members and the public while climbers are aloft in trees or aerial lift trucks.

What a Tree Care Groundsman Does

• Assist crew with equipment and vehicle preparation daily
• Ensure that drop zones are safe for coworkers and public
• Perform pruning and reducing
• Safely use tree care operations equipment included but not limited to gas powered saws, pole saws/clips, and chippers
• Load and unload trucks and chippers with logs, brush and debris
• Reports to work on time each day
• Follow directions from crew leaders and climbers
• Maintain professional image
• Provide friendly and excellent customer service
• Maintain and service equipment, as needed
• Follows safety culture and safety procedures
• Set up safety and traffic control measures for job sites

What do you need to be a Tree Care Groundsman

• Minimum of two year experience in Tree Care Operations
