Groundskeeper (Temporary)
Job type: Temporary, Part‑time – potential up to 40 hours/week.
Location: Kapalama Campus (Honolulu, Hawaii).
Targeted starting hourly rate: $24/hour. Tools, equipment, and PPE are provided by KSK.
Essential Responsibilities
- Performs general grounds keeping, event setup services, and supports other Groundskeepers and Utility Workers.
- Reviews work to be performed in advance with Groundskeeper II/III for risk assessment and safety mitigation.
- Assists with assembling materials and tools, prepares and cleans work areas, machines, and equipment.
- May independently perform general grounds keeping services under direction.
- Attends all technical and safety training, uses all PPE, and adheres to safety guidance.
- Reports safety hazards to supervisor and corrects hazards when possible.
- Participates in campus and department events and activities as scheduled.
- Adheres to all employee handbook protocols and policies, including mandatory reporting.
- Constructively identifies and suggests ways to improve organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Good work ethic, punctuality, and attendance.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills; ability to demonstrate increasing competence with training.
- Willingness to accept and follow directions.
- Ability to read and comprehend training materials, safety instructions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Work flexible schedules to accommodate after‑hours school functions.

Preferred Qualifications
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Physical capability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs, walk, stand, bend, crouch, reach, and sit as needed. Manual dexterity and strength for hand tool use.
- Experience in the following: basic grounds maintenance with hand tools and gas‑powered lawn equipment; landscape installation, grading and planting; irrigation installation and repair; tree trimming; 4‑stroke small engine repair (plus); 2‑stroke small engine repair experience (plus).
- CDL B license (preferred).
Work Conditions
- May involve exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, dirt, smoke; contact with hazardous materials; unpleasant odors; loud noises.
- Work outdoors and indoors, Monday through Friday during normal business hours; evening or weekend hours may be required.
