Job summary

Marquette University is seeking a Groundskeeper to join the Facilities Planning & Management team. This full-time staff position supports campus grounds maintenance, reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of groundskeeping experience, or 4+ years of groundskeeping experience.
• Valid driver’s license with favorable record.
• Service-oriented candidate with strong reading and writing comprehension.

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance tasks: pruning, weeding, planting, chemical applications, mowing, and watering.
• Provide snow removal services.
• Assist in setup and takedown of special events.
• Operate university equipment and vehicles safely.
• Lead assigned student crews.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Reporting to Maintenance Coordinator/Grounds, Marquette Groundskeepers perform maintenance of our campus grounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform all tasks related to grounds maintenance such as pruning, weeding, planting, chemical applications, mowing and watering.

2. Provide snow removal services.

3. Assist in setup and take down of special events.

4. Operate University equipment and vehicles in a safe manner during the performance of duties.

5. Lead assigned student crews.

6. Perform any and all related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

A high school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of experience or at least 4 years of groundskeeping experience.

A valid driver’s license with favorable record is also required.

Candidate must be service oriented and possess the ability to demonstrate reading and writing comprehension and competency skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Snow plowing experience. More than one year of groundskeeping experience.
