Town of South Windsor is seeking a part-time Groundskeeper to perform a range of grounds maintenance tasks at Town parks and properties in Connecticut. The role includes planting, weeding, trimming, mulching, mowing, and general cleanup, with some seasonal duties.

PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
Provides manual labor as a groundskeeper for the Town of South Windsor’s properties.
Performs a variety of manual labor tasks related to the maintenance and beautification of Town parks, grounds, landscaped areas, and other Town-owned properties. Duties include planting, weeding, trimming, mulching, fertilizing, watering, mowing, removing trash, maintaining cooking grills, and performing general grounds maintenance and cleanup.
Operates and maintains a variety of power equipment and machinery, including string trimmers, hedge shears, lawn mowers, sprayers, leaf blowers, power brooms, tractors (with or without attachments), water pumps, pool vacuums, and snow blowers.
Performs seasonal duties, including participation in the Town's fall leaf collection program and snow and ice removal operations.
Applies fertilizers, lime, and other soil, plant, and tree amendments.
Performs minor tree pruning and assists with the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs. Maintains, designs, and installs flower beds, ornamental displays, gardens, lawn areas, and other landscaped planting sites.
Assists civic organizations and volunteer groups with community beautification projects throughout the Town of South Windsor.
Ability to maintain accurate written and/or computerized records of work performed, including daily work logs, equipment usage, and maintenance activities.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team while safely operating equipment and perform assigned duties in a variety of weather conditions. Availability for emergency response, seasonal operations, and other departmental assignments as required.
The Superintendent of Parks, Parks Manager or designee
Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished either orally or written in English,
Must be able to make mathematical computations.
Must be able tolift 75 pounds.
Must be able to maintain accurate written and/or computerized records of work performed, including daily work logs, equipment usage, and maintenance activities.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team while safely operating equipment and perform assigned duties in a variety of weather conditions. Availability for emergency response, seasonal operations, and other departmental assignments as required.
Valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
Candidate must be able to obtain a Connecticut DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
Pesticide Junior Operator Certification is required within 1 year of service.
24 hours per week at $24.00 per hour. No benefits. Hours can be flexible as long as agreed upon with Parks Superintendent or his or her designee.
