Hourly Rate: $15.75

This position is an on-campus, part-time, up to 19-hour appointment based in Champaign, Illinois.

Regular and temporary position available.

The Part-time Groundskeeper is responsible for helping maintain the external Parkland College property/grounds, including landscaping, parking areas, signs, sidewalks, and sports fields. The schedule is established by the Manager of Buildings and Grounds, with flexibility needed for project deadlines. The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks accurately is essential.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain lawns by mowing, watering, weed control, and planting flowers and seeds.
• Remove litter and refuse for disposal.
• Plant, prune, and maintain trees and shrubs.
• Remove snow and ice from driving and pedestrian areas.
• Replace or post outdoor signs.
• Report observed issues to relevant departments for treatment or repair.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience operating lawn equipment, tools, and machinery
• Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted
• Knowledge of grounds maintenance and lawn care planning
• Must not be a SURS annuitant or willing to suspend SURS annuity upon employment, per state law
