Perform grounds maintenance for the medical center and associated satellite facilities.Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Determine the means and methods to be used in accomplishing assigned tasks securing the appropriate tools, equipment, materials, and supplies and estimating time and manpower requiredService and maintain grounds equipmentInspect lawns, flowers, shrubs, and trees for evidence of insects, fungi, and other pestsPerform periodic inspections of courtyard areas, landscaped areas, planting beds, roadways, sidewalks, and parking lotsPerform snow and ice removal as requiredCapable of installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems and equipmentConduct preventative maintenance in accordance with the established Grounds program providing recommendations for improvement and modificationComplete assigned grounds duties promptly, accurately and within the prescribed time limitsComplete scheduled staff training and in-service for physical plant, building, HVAC, Plumbing and Life Safety systems and equipmentParticipate in performance improvement and information management activitiesAssist in updating and modifying grounds maintenance program as required to meet facility needsObserve safety practices and standards and wear required protective devicesOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training:High school diploma or equivalent requiredValid North Carolina driver's license requiredWork Experience:3 months on-the-job training to become familiar with groundskeeping duties requiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English languageUnderstand all safety requirementsNumerical ability to measure ingredients and learn dilution ratiosMotor coordination to operate power equipment and move equipment safely around trees and vehiclesPhysical Requirements:Ability to move throughout the Medical CenterVisual acuity for reviewing product informationWork is heavy, involving lifting and carrying supplies, equipment and materials weighing up to 50 poundsExtensive standing and walking is necessary for operating shears, pushing lawn mowers, or digging plant bedsStooping, kneeling, and crouching for picking up waste or litter and to perform weeding and plantingRequired Licenses and CertificationsDriver's License - Division of Motor VehiclesCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
