Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a flexible, per diem Groundskeeper to maintain campus grounds using various equipment and to keep sidewalks and parking areas clear during winter.

The role supports multiple trade areas, performs preventive maintenance, and ensures a safe, welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and employees.

Typical hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with limited benefits; HS diploma required and at least 2 years' related experience.

Job Summary

Maintains grounds using various types of equipment. Maintains a safe campus for patients, visitors, and employees. Provides manpower support to other trade areas as needed.

Job Duties

• Perform snow removal and operate large articulated front end loaders, tractors, dump trucks, pickups, and other equipment to plow, salt, and cinder parking lots and sidewalks.
• Operate snow melting equipment to ensure ample parking during winter.
• Operate bucket truck, forklift, backhoe, front end loaders to support trade areas on an as needed basis.
• Operate large street sweeper to maintain parking structure and reduce damage from salt and deicing.
• Perform preventive maintenance, clean, and repair snowplows, front end loaders, road sweeper, tractors, mowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment.
• Prepare soil to plant flowers, lawns, and shrubs.
• Apply fertilizer and insect control as needed.
• Mow and trim lawns; prune shrubs; weed and mulch shrub beds.
• Inspect plantings for evidence of insect and treat as needed.
• Clean road drains.
• Transport infectious waste, clear bag waste, recycling material, and clean linens to outlaying buildings.
• Work is typically performed in an office environment.
• Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.

Position Details

This is a flex position (per diem, hours as needed). Non‑benefits eligible. Flexible hours: up to two days per week during spring, summer, and fall, with additional opportunities for snow and ice removal in winter. Regular work hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Education
