Job summary

Daytona State College is seeking a lawn maintenance worker to upkeep campus grounds. The role requires hands-on lawn care, trimming, and debris removal using power equipment, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications include 6 months of commercial lawn care experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a Florida driver's license. Applicants must have their own transportation and the ability to obtain forklift certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Mows, cuts, trims, edges, weeds and maintains College grounds. Operates lift/bucket truck to trim trees up to 30’. Performs other landscaping tasks as directed.
• Operates blower to clear debris from sidewalks, parking lots and other areas.
• Maintains plants by weeding and spraying with pesticides and fertilizers. Plants shrubbery, trees, and flowers. Prunes and trims trees and shrubbery.

• Requires walking, standing, stooping, stretching, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting all of the time, exerting at least 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
• Must be able to be exposed to outdoor temperatures, hot and cold.
• Must be able to follow oral/written communications.
• Must have computer knowledge to be able to clock in/clock out, and view personnel related information (paycheck, W-2, etc.)
