Job description

JOB SUMMARY: Perform facilities groundskeeping and minor maintenance duties for the Memorial Campus property, including painting, general preventative maintenance, minor plumbing repairs, cosmetic repairs, pressure-washing, pool maintenance, trash pickup and removal, and other minor maintenance as required. Participates in the organization’s continuous quality improvement efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Receives work assignments from Lead Maintenance Worker or Senior Director of Administration.
  2. Completes assigned work orders efficiently.
  3. Performs maintenance and cleaning of the pool as required, working independently or as part of a maintenance team.
  4. Maintains a clean and organized shop area, ensuring tools and equipment are in good condition and properly stored. Repairs equipment when necessary and recommends replacements or additions.
  5. Leads volunteers or community service personnel on landscaping and beautification projects as needed.
  6. Performs cleaning tasks such as floor waxing, restroom sanitation, refilling paper dispensers, and trash removal in assigned buildings.
  7. Conducts walk-through inspections of agency property, noting and reporting work needs via Repair Requests.
  8. Inspects and maintains agency vehicles as assigned.
  9. Conducts daily campus tours to pick up debris and empty trash containers.
  10. Makes scheduled supply pickups as assigned.
  11. Reviews the PM schedule board and performs scheduled maintenance tasks.
  12. Communicates pertinent information daily to the Lead Maintenance Worker and/or Senior Director of Administration.
  13. Works within the philosophy and functions of the Children's Home Network.
  14. Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent; at least one year of experience in groundskeeping, custodial, or maintenance work preferred but not required.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Proof of insurance and ability to provide transportation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if needed.
  • Successful completion of FDLE clearance, federal and state criminal background checks, and sexual predator screening.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in the safe and effective use of cleaning chemicals and machinery.
  • Effective team member.
  • Basic mechanical skills.

Annual Training Requirements: Sexual Harassment, Blood-borne Pathogens, Workplace Accident Prevention and Reporting, Confidentiality and Privacy Practices, Diversity/Cultural Competency, Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporter Statutes and Methods, Crisis Prevention, and Program Goals.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to lift at least fifty pounds.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Visual acuity to operate vehicles and machinery, read printed materials, and observe physical facilities.
  • Ability to understand spoken dialogue.
  • Frequent use of hands.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, walk on roofs, and crawl in attics.
