Job summary

Utah Tech University is seeking a Groundskeeper to assist with campus upkeep under the Grounds supervisor. Responsibilities include mowing, edging, irrigation, and general landscape maintenance across university grounds.

  • Repair and maintain irrigation systems (piping, valves, timers, wiring).
  • Maintain daily logs as directed by the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Announcement

Under the direction of the Grounds supervisor, assist in the maintenance of the University grounds. Additional information about the department and program offerings can be found online at https://campus.utahtech.edu/.

Responsibilities
  • Perform grounds keeping work, maintaining and caring forassigned landscaped areas. This includes:
  • Mow, weed, edge, cultivate, prune, maintain and fertilizelawns, plants, shrubs, and trees;
  • Prepare soil for sod or seed;
  • Water turf, aerate and reseed turf.
  • Operate grounds keeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers,edgers, forklift, man-lift, tractor with attachments, and otherrelated equipment.
  • Maintain and sweep sidewalks and other areas; clean andmaintain outside fountains. Pick up trash and debris within thegrounds; empty outside trash containers.
  • Repair and maintain university irrigation systems, whichinclude all piping, valves, timers, sprinkler heads, time clocks,and wiring.
  • Maintain daily logs as set up by the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Two years related experience, plus a valid Driver's License,required; experience with irrigation systems preferred.
  • Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds (lift test will berequired prior to job start date).
  • Ability to use and knowledge of the operation of equipment andtools necessary to perform daily tasks (mower, weed-eater, shears,shovels, spades, tractor, truck, etc.).
  • Knowledge of handling and the proper application of relatedchemicals.
  • Knowledge of planting and caring for trees, shrubbery, andgrass.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and inwriting; ability to follow detailed oral and writteninstructions.
  • Ability to exercise basic human relations skills inestablishing and maintaining effective working relations with theuniversity community.
Supplemental Information
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Full-timenon-exempt staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of $37,500, with a desired start date of October 2026. Excellent benefits package included that begins on start date; includes:
