WORK HOURS:
8 hours per day (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), Monday through Friday, 12 month position.
JOB DUTIES:
Key Responsibilities:
The Groundskeeper performs grounds maintenance and related support work to help keep all district facilities and outdoor areas safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained.
Grounds and Landscaping
- Fertilizing, weed control, aerating, seeding, and sprinkler systems management for sports fields at all facilities as well as all school grounds
- Landscape management: trimming, weeding, and watering all trees, shrubs, and mulched and rocked areas throughout the growing months
- Working with both High School and Middle School Activities Directors with preparing sports fields for competition at all schools
- Maintaining parking lots year-round
- Snow removal and de-icing on all surfaces of all district grounds
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on grounds equipment
- Synthetic turf maintenance
District Vehicle, Transportation and Freight Support
- Use district vehicles to transport equipment and people as assigned
- Unloading and distribution of freight for all school facilities as needed
- Assist the Special Education Transportation Coordinator with district vans
Other Duties
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid MN Driver's License and clean driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- State of Minnesota Certified Pesticide/Herbicide Applicator License preferred
- Knowledge of operation and repair of small engines and automotive equipment
- Experience operating commercial lawn mowers, snow blowers and paint sprayers (both turf and surface)
- Possess good written and oral communication skillsAbility to interact effectively and professionally with staff, students and the public
- Basic skills in organization, computers, math, painting and operating power tools
- Ability to lift, pull, or push a minimum of 50 pounds
SALARY and BENEFITS:
Salary based experience and the 2025-2027 School Support Employees Agreement VI starting at $23.33 up to $24.74 per hour.
