Job summary

Dogwood Canyon Nature Park is seeking a GROUNDSKEEPER to maintain the safety and appearance of the park. Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, mulching, irrigation, snow removal, and general grounds upkeep across trails, ponds, and parking areas.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and at least 6 months related experience or training.
• Preferred familiarity with gas-powered tools listed in the tools section.

Responsibilities

• Sweep or blow pathways, water crossings and roads.
• Mow turf with push or riding mower.
• Edge around walks, beds, bridges and walls.
• Plant, prune, weed, rake and mulch landscapes.
• Clean dams and water crossings of debris.
• Cut and remove dead or hazardous trees and limbs.
• Remove snow and ice, spread sand and ice melt.
• Repair walkways, trails, drives and parking areas.
• Pressure wash bridges, patios and walkways.
• Apply fertilizer and pesticides as needed.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Acquire working knowledge of Dogwood Canyon Nature Park and Wonders of Wildlife Museum.

Job description

Job Summary: Dogwood Canyon Nature Park is currently seeking a GROUNDSKEEPER to join the team! This team is responsible for maintaining the overall safety and appearance of the park. This individual will perform the maintenance and upkeep of all grounds including plants, trees, lawn areas, parking lot, drives, walkways, trails, ponds, water crossings, dams, irrigation systems, snow and ice removal, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sweep or blow pathways, water crossings and roads.
• Mow turf using a push mower and or a riding mower.
• String trim and edge around walks, flower beds, bridges, rock walls and other.
• Perform landscape tasks like planting, pruning, weeding, raking, and mulching as needed.
• Clean dams and water crossings of leaves, moss, algae, and debris.
• Cut and remove dead or hazardous trees and limbs.
• Removal of snow and ice, spreading of sand and ice melt.
• Repair of walkways, trails, drives and parking areas.
• Pressure wash bridges, patios and walkways.
• Ability to apply fertilizer and pesticides.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Acquire a working knowledge of Dogwood Canyon Nature Park and Wonders of Wildlife Museum

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Required: A high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and 6 months related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: experience with gas powered hand tools like string trimmers, backpack blowers, edgers, pressure washers, hedge trimmers, push mowers, zero turn mowers and riding mowers.

Physical Requirements:

• Have the ability to respond appropriately to guest questions as required.
• Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and natural areas.
• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
• Perform other duties as required.
