Job summary

Wells is seeking a reliable janitor to uphold a clean, safe environment across the plant. You will perform outdoor yard maintenance, debris removal, landscape care, and ensure all routes and work areas stay free of hazards while following safety procedures.

• Safety Compliance: Keep egress routes and forklift paths unobstructed.
• Hazard Mitigation: Clear ice, snow, or mud from walkways and loading zones.
• Erosion & Drainage Control: Ensure ponds and ditches are free of slurry buildup.

Responsible for upholding a clean and safe environment throughout the plant. This position includes a variety of cleaning duties to ensure all work areas remain free of debris and hazards. The janitor also contributes to the overall organization and orderliness of the plant, helping the department maintain high standards of productivity and safety.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Yard Maintenance: Operating sweeping machinery to manage concrete dust, aggregate spillage, and debris across extensive outdoor storage lots. [1 ]
• Debris & Waste Removal: Clearing scrap rebar, wooden dunnage, formwork remains, and concrete washout materials to prevent tripping hazards.
• Landscape & Perimeter Care: Managing vegetation, mowing, weed control, and maintaining fence lines to secure the plant boundaries.
• Safety Compliance: Keeping emergency egress routes, fire lanes, and forklift driving paths entirely unobstructed.
• Hazard Mitigation: Clearing ice, snow, or mud from active walkways, loading zones, and heavy machinery paths.
• Erosion & Drainage Control: Ensuring retention ponds, drainage ditches, and culverts remain free of concrete slurry and buildup to prevent flooding.
• Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
• Follow safety procedures and comply with policies
• Notify the Supervisor of unsafe conditions or maintenance needs
• Other duties as assigned

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a reliable and detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized environment, works independently with minimal supervision, and follows safety protocols at all times. Good communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance needs are essential.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required
• Ability to manage your time efficiently
• Strong attention to detail
• Works well with others
• Works well when supervisors are not present
• Able to work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies
• Able to use basic cleaning equipment
• Ability to follow schedules and keep commitments
• Ability to follow directions from the supervisor
• Bilingual is preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required while in the plant and field.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and navigate active plant and field environments as needed.
• Must be able to climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, and safely move through industrial work areas.
• May be exposed to moving equipment, machinery, and other standard industrial hazards.
• May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, as well as noise, dust, and vibration.
