Job summary

Tarrant County College is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain appearance, safety, and functionality of College grounds, landscapes, and outdoor facilities. You will support routine groundskeeping and landscape tasks on campus.

The role requires strong attention to detail, ability to operate grounds equipment, and commitment to safety. Working hours are Monday–Friday with seasonal adjustments, and the position is based on the South Campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One (1) year’s working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Maintains grounds and landscapes per work orders and designs.
• Follows written/verbal directions, including landscape plans.
• Transports trash to designated collection points and inspects grounds.
• Removes snow/ice and applies salt to prevent slips.
• Maintains irrigation systems, sidewalks, and hardscape features.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for maintaining the appearance,cleanliness, safety, and functionality of College grounds,landscapes, and outdoor facilities through routine groundskeepingand landscape maintenance activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements

• Performs tasks and completes work orders to maintain the groundsand landscapes
• Follows written or verbal directions or specifications, includingplanned landscape designs
• Removes and transports trash and debris from public areas todesignated collection locations and performs regular inspections ofgrounds
• Removes snow, ice, or debris from walkways, driveways, andparking lots and spreads salt in those areas to prevent slip, trip,and fall accidents
• Performs upkeep and maintenance of irrigation systems, sidewalks,driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, water features, andother grounds features
• Assists with indoor and outdoor event set up and tear down
• Wears appropriate safety items and protective clothing

Service Excellence

• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite
• Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
• Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege

Supervision

Works under the general supervision of the assigned departmentleader

Required Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• One (1) year’s working experience related to the EssentialPerformance Requirements
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record andproof of insurance

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one (1) year's working experience performing theessential performance requirements on a college, university, orsimilar campus or facility
• At least one (1) year’s working experience operating fork-lifts,zero turn mowers, and tractors
• At least one (1) year’s working experience in the application ofpesticides

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of local regulations pertaining to groundsmaintenance
• Knowledge of installation techniques for pavers, timbers, rocks,and other hardscaping materials
• Knowledge of horticulture, including plant identification andcare, soil health, weed identification, and pest control
• Skilled in customer service and interpersonal relationships,including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
• Ability to safely handle and operate grounds vehicles, equipment,and groundskeeping tools
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment

Work Environment

While performing the duties ofthis job, the employee regularly works outdoors in various weatherconditions, occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, and isoccasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise levelin the work environment can be loud due to the regular use of powertools and machinery and may require the use of personal protectiveequipment.
