Job summary

Fair Oaks Farms is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain our campus grounds year-round. The role involves outdoor tasks, landscape maintenance, and operating power equipment to keep walkways safe and attractive for guests and staff.

Ideal candidates have a desire to work outdoors in all seasons, are self-motivated, reliable, and able to work alone or with limited supervision as well as part of a team. Physical fitness to lift and carry equipment is required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years landscaping experience preferred.
• Desire to work outdoors year-round.
• Self-motivated, trustworthy, conscientious; able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Keep campus outdoor areas clean, safe, and attractive.
• Maintain water features and landscape beds.
• Operate power equipment (blowers, trimmers, chainsaws).
• Mow, trim, and edge turf; plant and maintain ornamental plants and trees.
• Assist with campus events and snow removal as needed.

Job description

Position Summary:This is a year-round position for individuals who love to work outdoors, perform landscaping tasks, or have a strong desire to learn/improve their landscaping skills. Groundskeepers will be responsible for keeping all outdoor areas of our campus clean, beautiful, and safe for our guests and co-workers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Keeping campus free from litter
• Cleaning spills from walkways
• Maintaining water features
• Fall/Spring landscape cleanups
• Operating power equipment such as blowers, string trimmers, and chainsaws
• Mowing grass with push mower, riding mower/0 turn mower
• Trimming and edging turf grass areas
• Planting and maintaining ornamental plants
• Planting and maintaining trees
• Landscaping/hardscaping new and existing areas
• Applying pesticides including herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides
• Applying plant fertilizers
• Perform repairs and maintenance to outdoor structures including walking paths, nature trails, fences, and some minor repairs to building exteriors.
• Safe and cautious operation of a Gator Utility Vehicle
• Help with snow removal in winter
• Assist with campus wide events such as concerts, Apple Fest, Octoberfest, etc.

Job Requirements:

• 1-2 years of landscaping experience preferred, but not required.
• Must have a desire to work outdoors, year-round.
• Must be self-motivated, trustworthy, conscientious, and work well alone/unassisted or with limited supervision and as well as part of a team unit.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to safely lift and carry equipment and loads frequently exceeding 50 pounds.
