Responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of all grounds, landscaped areas, facilities, and outdoor spaces owned and operated by the Pueblo.
High School Diploma or its equivalent (G.E.D); Ground maintenance experience preferred; Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license and be insurable; CDL preferred; Must be able to successfully pass a post-offer drug screen and criminal background investigation.
Knowledge of grounds maintenance practices, including mowing, trimming, edging, planting, pruning, and irrigation; Knowledge of safe operation and basic maintenance of landscaping equipment and power tools; Knowledge of workplace safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE); Knowledge of fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and proper application procedures; Knowledge of irrigation systems and components; Skill in operating landscaping and maintenance equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, blowers, chainsaws, and tractors; Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment or maintenance concerns; Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence; Ability to learn to read basic blueprints/schematics in order to locate irrigation lines, controllers, and irrigation components; Ability to effectively present information in one-on one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to support emergency response, special events, or seasonal operations when needed.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use good manual and finger dexterity, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee will work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and exposure to sunlight.
